STUDENTS
The course
is designed to prepare students to successfully pass the National
Pharmacy Technician Board Exam and directly enter the field of pharmacy.
Instruction is provided by experienced, licensed pharmacists and
Technicians who currently practice pharmacy professionally.
Below is a brief explanation of the course and the requirements
for enrollment. The course offering is considered "selective
admissions", which means that college/university staff will
grant admission based on the application and interview. Our commitment
is to keep a low teacher-student ratio, therefore, seating is LIMITED.
We will only be accepting 25 applicants in each program.
The Pharmacy Technician certification program offers students both
theoretical and practical training through hands-on experience.
Classes meet two (2) days a week, for three (3) hours each session.
Generally, the classes are held on a week night and Saturday mornings.
The duration of the course is fourteen (14) weeks and includes preparation
for the certification examination administered by the Pharmacy Technician
Certification Board (PTCB). In addition to 84 hours in the classroom,
and homework study time, students are required to complete an 80-clock-hour
externship experience in order to graduate from the program. The
externship serves as working experience, as well as a reference
for future employment.
After completion of the class portion of the program, our Class
Coordinator will place students in a local pharmacy to gain hands-on
experience vital for their success. The location of the pharmacy
and the times worked will be based on where and when they can work.
The externship is built around a student's busy schedule and will
be completed in less than four weeks. Once a student completes the
externship, they will receive a certificate of completion from the
college/university.
