NETWORK FUNDAMENTALS

 

Federal and state governments, and local communities, are in need of IT professionals, but have challenges finding professionals with the required training, certifications and clearances (when required) to fulfill positions.

This course establishes the core knowledge required of any networking role and provides a core foundation needed to work with both wired and wireless networks. The course will also include instruction on emerging technologies such as unified communications, mobile, cloud and virtualization technologies. At the conclusion of the course, students will have the tools to develop a career in IT infrastructure covering troubleshooting, configuring and managing networks.


Learning Objectives

Provide students in six weeks with the knowledge and skills to incorporate best practices in hands-on troubleshooting and practical Networking skills required to:

  • Critical security concepts to helping networking professionals work with security practitioners.
  • Cloud computing best practices and coverage of newer hardware and visualization techniques.
  • Concepts to give individuals the skills to keep the network resilient.
  • Design and implement functional networks.
  • Configure, manage and maintain essential network devices.
  • Use devices such as switches and routers to segment network traffic and create resilient networks.
  • Identify benefits and drawbacks of existing network configurations.
  • Implement network security, standards and protocols.
  • Troubleshoot network problems.
  • Support the creation of visualized networks.


Our team leverages an evolving suite of tools to ensure a collaborative environment among the instructors and students.


Mentors are available to coach and assist students as they transitioned into new networking positions. Additionally, students will have lifetime access to our digital portal, which is an interactive platform where the students and instructors can collaborate, communicate and share content related to Networking.
